Enhancing NPA Midwest’s digital strategy and driving membership growth with a modern, user-friendly website.

The Natural Products Association Midwest (NPA Midwest) is a regional trade association representing 14 states that is deeply committed to advocating for the natural products industry. Their mission is to support consumers access to health-enhancing natural products and to ensure retailers and suppliers have the freedom to provide these products to their customers.

Their website had become outdated in design and functionality, making it difficult for members and potential new members to navigate the site effectively. They needed a comprehensive overhaul of their digital strategy, including a new website with better functionality, improved user experience (UX), and a refreshed user interface (UI) design. In addition, it was essential that the solution allowed them to manage updates and content on their own.

Digital Strategy

After lengthy discussions with association leaders, we developed a cohesive digital strategy to guide NPA Midwest in enhancing their online reach and engagement. This strategy focused on better aligning their brand with the needs of their current members while also making the association more accessible to potential new members. A key component of this involved redesigning the site’s architecture with a streamlined sitemap that improved the flow of information.

At this stage, we also produced detailed wireframe designs, allowing us to focus on optimizing the user experience from the ground up, ensuring a logical, intuitive navigation structure that would serve both existing members and new visitors. By incorporating feedback from NPA Midwest throughout the process, we were able to craft a digital framework that supported their goals for better engagement, usability, and growth.

Design

For the design phase of the project, we took a thoughtful, explorative approach, focusing on creating a visual identity that aligned with the organization’s mission and values. We began by selecting typography that balanced professionalism with approachability, ensuring legibility while conveying trust and authority. The color palette was chosen to evoke a sense of natural wellness and vitality, integrating calming earth tones with fresh, vibrant accents to reflect the natural products industry. This exploration of typography and color played a crucial role in shaping the mood of the site, fostering an inviting yet authoritative atmosphere.

Next, our team created a modern, intuitive user interface and user experience that made the website easy to navigate for all users – whether they were current members seeking resources or potential members looking to join. We paid close attention to ensuring a logical flow of information and easy access to key areas of the site.

The new website was built on WordPress, providing a flexible and user-friendly content management system. This allowed NPA Midwest staff to take control of their content and easily make updates without requiring outside technical expertise.

The Results

The transformation of NPA Midwest’s digital presence has been a success. With a sleek, modern design and an intuitive user experience, the website now effectively serves both existing members and new visitors. The improved visibility has helped increase membership, and the streamlined website has allowed the organization to better communicate their mission and provide resources to their community.

The new site has also empowered NPA Midwest to take control of their content, reducing their reliance on external support for updates. This newfound flexibility ensures that they can stay relevant and up-to-date as their organization evolves.
